About the role

HealthPartners is hiring for a LPN/Medical Assistant/EMT position at the Apple Valley Clinic. The clinic is seeking candidates who meet the required qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Identify common and recurring nursing needs of the patient.
  • Recognize the need for and perform routine office procedures and testing in the ambulatory care setting.
  • Absorb patients to achieve basic health care goals.
  • Identify patient education needs, provide instruction and refer appropriately.
  • Document observations, actions and patient outcomes.
  • Provide safe, accurate and clinically competent direct care to patients and families.
  • Recognize patient's abnormalities or urgent problems and seek appropriate assistance.
  • Obtain health history information.
  • Obtain accurate vital signs, recognize and report variances.
  • Teach techniques or provide information according to established program.
  • Accurately and appropriately document procedures and treatment in each patient’s record.
  • Accurately communicate information to other members of the health care team.
  • Provide the patient and family with current and accurate information regarding the procedure and care.
  • Perform telephone screening under direction of RN or MD.
  • Serve as a catalyst in improving standards of LPN practice.
  • Serve as a role model for technical conduct and practice.
  • Provide support to professional and technical staff.
  • Solve problems appropriately seeking assistance from members of the healthcare team.
  • Effect positive response from patients and other members of the healthcare team through interpersonal skills.

Medical Assistant/EMT Position Responsibilities

  • Room patients and complete vital signs and other pertinent physical measurements.
  • Administer medication and clinical procedures according to authorized policy and documented according to HealthPartners policy.
  • This may include DISCUS or AIMS assessment.
  • Review charts for the presence of pertinent information relevant to the patient’s appointment.
  • This may include Prepared Practice work as developed by the team.
  • Provide and document any needed and requested health educational materials to the patient.
  • Handle patient and their records in a private and confidential manner per HealthPartners policy.
  • Seek medical and/or nursing assistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
  • Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms and set up for procedures.
  • Assist provider as needed.
  • Prepare the patient for medical interventions.
  • Prepare charts and records for appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit according to established practices.
  • Check MSRs for completion and route appropriately.
  • Process drug refills according to clinic protocols.
  • Maintain current practice by obtaining continuing education in relevant practice areas.
  • Maintain CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • LPN Position: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current LPN licensure in Minnesota. Current BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. One year working experience as an LPN is preferred.
  • Medical Assistant/EMT Position: High school diploma or GED. Graduated of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR Graduate of an accredited EMT program and current EMT License. Current BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration through AAMA or AMT is preferred.

Skills

The LPN and Medical Assistant/EMT positions require the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must possess speech, hearing, and sight skills to perform the functions of the position. Manual dexterity required. Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently. Proficiency in other languages may be required. Some positions may have lifting requirements.
