LPN/LVN - outpatient care
About the role
The LPN will be providing Correctional Medical care for those housed at the Clark County Jail. Position Highlights include full-time day/ part-time opportunities, adult population, free from coding, billing, insurance, satisfaction surveys, ICD-10 and DRGS, evidence-based care addressing needs, not wants, vast array of medical pathology, work is socially meaningful, safer than most other healthcare settings, weapons forbidden, controversial inmates dealt with by correctional staff, inmates are punished for acting out, visits can be stopped at any time and restarted at a later date.
Responsibilities
- Provide a range of medical care to include primary, addiction, urgent and behavioral health care
- Care is evidence based. We address needs, not wants
- Vast array of medical pathology that is not seen in any one other healthcare location
- Work is socially meaningful as patients are a socially marginalized and lack ordinary access to medical care whether due to lack of insurance, mental illness or homelessness
- Larger degree of medical autonomy and free of micromanaging
- Extensive nursing guidelines in place
- Safer than most other healthcare settings as –weapons are forbidden, controversial inmates dealt with by correctional staff (safety and security takes precedence), inmates are punished for acting out, visits can be stopped at any time and restarted at a later date
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by a state agency or accredited by the ACEN
- A minimum of 12 months of experience in a primary care setting within the last 24 months
- Active, unrestricted OH LPN license
- BLS from the American Heart Association
