About the role

Assists with and assesses laboratory and radiology screenings. Maintains accurate and complete Employee Health records, promoting confidentiality and documenting clearly and concisely. Works under standing orders from the Medical Director to perform various clinical duties. Maintains knowledge of required immunizations for healthcare workers in a hospital setting, adhering to policies and procedures. Performs proper and legible documentation for orders, procedures, and assessments. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, infection control practices, and appropriate use of PPE, performing handwashing according to policy and enforcing safety regulations. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-placement physical examinations and drug screens
  • Administer IM, Sub-Q, and intradermal injections
  • Perform phlebotomy
  • Administer medication provided in the Employee Health Department
  • Vaccine administration
  • Workers' compensation case management
  • Accurately take height, weight, blood pressure, vision, and color screening
  • Perform diagnostic testing according to OSHA testing guidelines and AdventHealth policy
  • Facilitate processing employees from new hire to annual compliance
  • Perform daily EMR report checks for accurate data entry, scanning, and charges
  • Maintain knowledge of EMR system of record keeping for employee medical records
  • Demonstrate 100% compliance with mandatory meetings through attendance, written testing or make-up sessions
  • Assume personal responsibility for on-going education and professional development
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures regarding Employee Health and workers' compensation
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of hospital fire and safety procedures; yearly review the fire and safety procedure as outlined in the Safety and Emergency Management Manual
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply occupational health regulation principles and practices
  • Strive to keep current regarding Federal and State regulations affecting occupational health and workers' compensation practices
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all things
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth Clinic operation

Qualifications

  • Technical/Vocational School in LPN (Required)
  • 1+ acute care experience (Required)
  • 2+ employee health experience (Preferred)
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Required)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) (Required)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Ability to function independently within the established policy and procedure guidelines and standing orders
  • Proficient and possess current working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet
  • Must be proficient in the English language
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, inter-personal and organizational skills
  • Job duties require self-motivation and persistence; along with strict, self-imposed time management and using discernment when prioritizing projects and daily workload
  • Seeks further education and personal growth
  • Employee Health Experience preferred but not required

Skills

  • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and The Joint Commission (TJC) employee health requirements
  • Knowledge of required immunizations for healthcare workers in a hospital setting
  • Ability to demonstrate use of various computer programs
