Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse at our hospital provides general nursing care to patients, integrating company values into daily practice. The position requires a minimum of two years' experience in an inpatient hospital setting, with inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred. Essential functions include implementing medication and treatment orders, assisting in developing patient care plans, reporting patient care issues, and maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides skilled nursing care to patients as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Implements orders for medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with nursing care plan as written by the RN.
  • Participates in evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions in relation to patient responses and seeks guidance in redirection when necessary.
  • Reports to supervisor on patient care rendered, problems concerning patients’ needs, and resolution to those needs.
  • Helps identify patient problems and potential risks and contributes to the development of interventions.
  • Aids in identifying patient’s learning needs and reinforces self-care and other techniques.
  • Assists in designating applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital’s established system.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
  • Ensures an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Assesses risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
  • Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.

Requirements

  • Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse required.
  • Current BLS certification required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice and infection prevention standards of practice.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and utilizes proper policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patients.
  • Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.

Physical Requirements

  • A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
  • Gross and precise motor functions.
  • Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
  • Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay

  • Up to $32.41 per hour, pay based on experience.

Schedule

  • Shift differential eligible - Ranges from $2.00 - $4.00.
  • 7 am - 7 pm; 3 12-hour shifts a week.
  • Every Other Weekend Required.
  • Holiday requirement.
