About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in our hospital, providing skilled nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This position integrates the hospital's core values into daily practice.
Responsibilities
- Provides skilled nursing care to patients as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Implements orders for medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with the nursing care plan.
- Communicates with the Registered Nurse to develop an individualized plan of care for each patient.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and seeks guidance when necessary.
- Reports patient care rendered, identified problems, and resolved issues to the supervisor.
- Assists in identifying patient learning needs and reinforcing self-care techniques.
- Designates applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital’s established system.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Affords appropriate precautions to mitigate safety risks and complies with safety and infection prevention standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an inpatient hospital setting, with inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
- Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Current BLS certification.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice and infection prevention standards.
- Understanding of accreditation standards to ensure compliance with state and accrediting agencies.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and the ability to apply policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Basic computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Compliance with safety and infection prevention standards.
- Proven ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
