LPN - Clinic (Medicating), Transplant Clinic - Full-Time, Days

About the role

Join a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as an LPN - Clinic Medicating in our Transplant clinic. In this role, you will partner with the clinical team to provide patients with the highest quality of care, delivering nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. Patient-centered care principles and practical nursing standards guide the care provided.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of current trends, concepts, and issues in professional nursing practice related to transplant care.
• Arranges and prepares patients and families for procedures using established teaching and research protocols.
• Participates in activities as determined by the supervisor.
• Identifies and communicates patient and family problems to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
• Collaborates with nursing care center leadership to maintain patient care standards across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Acts as a resource person for nursing staff on related subjects.
• Maintains all patient information and records as directed in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Completed High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited body.
• Current Illinois LPN License.
• Graduate from a State-Approved course of study.
• Successful completion of a pharmacology course.
• Active BLS Certification.
• Experience working in a community health setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Considerable skill in verbal communication, determining priorities, and organizing work.
• Ability to maintain an organized, alphabetized filing system.
• General working knowledge of PC, Excel, Microsoft Word, OASIS, and EPIC.
• Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
• Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Considerable skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy when dealing with patients, coworkers, and physicians.
• Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments.

Schedule
