LPN Clinic - Endocrinology
About the role
The Endocrinology Unit offers the opportunity to support research focused on the endocrine system, hormones, and endocrine disorders. Caregivers collaborate on studies aimed at advancing the understanding of hormone regulation and improving the diagnosis, treatment, and management of endocrine diseases. As an LPN supporting Endocrinology, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional, high-quality care for a diverse patient population. In this role, you will directly support the practices of endocrinology providers while enhancing your nursing skills through hands-on experience and the educational resources available throughout the Cleveland Clinic system.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients.
- Administer medication.
- Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date documentation in medical records and files.
- Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.
- Implement pain management assessments and documentation.
- Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
- Follow Code Blue protocol.
Requirements
- Graduate of Accredited LPN program
- Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Certification
- Knowledge of infection control practices
- Computer literacy
Preferred qualifications
- One year of clinical experience
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Certification
- Background in Endocrinology
- Endocrinology experience
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, sitting, and standing.
- Frequent talking and listening when giving instructions and explanations.
- Frequent use of the phone; fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.
- Heavy physical work, including lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies, and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.
- Stooping, pushing, and pulling when moving a patient into position for treatment; also reaching, handling, feeling, and manipulating equipment into position.
- The majority of the time employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.
- Potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens.
- Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.
