Responsibilities

  • Safely execute the transportation schedule as assigned in a timely manner, adjusting to changing circumstances (e.g., late flight arrivals).
  • Maintain communication with airport, airlines, and OPTC staff for updated information.
  • Conduct basic maintenance checks of assigned vehicles to ensure safety and functionality; report potential problems to the Director of the Lake Placid Olympic & Paralympic Training Center.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the vehicle used.
  • Assist guests with loading and unloading luggage and provide aid during boarding and departing.
  • Answer questions about the OPTC and surrounding area during transit.
  • Demonstrate pride in the USOPC, the department, and the position through professional and courteous behavior.
  • Maintain punctuality, neat personal appearance, and respect for equipment and supplies.
  • Document all instances of transporting a minor one-on-one in accordance with the U.S. Center for Safe Sport’s “Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies” (MAAPP), ensuring each occurrence is due to an ‘emergent’ situation.
  • Remain pleasant, flexible, even-tempered, cooperative, and patient with unexpected changes.
  • Respond to transportation needs on short notice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the LPOPTC Director.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid New York state driver’s license (Class B); Class C license preferred (required within one year of employment).
  • 3+ years’ experience operating multi-passenger vehicles.
  • Knowledge of vehicle operations, including preventive maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with above-average verbal and written abilities.

Working Conditions

  • Drive vehicles in all types of weather and road conditions.
  • Operate multi-passenger (2-40) vehicles, including buses, vans, SUVs, and vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts.
  • Move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work non-traditional hours, primarily weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Use tools and equipment such as cell phones, radios, and email.

Location

Lake Placid Olympic & Paralympic Training Center.

Pay

$18.00 - $18.50 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time, non-exempt position intended to work 20 hours per week.
