Position Purpose
We are seeking candidates for a full-time Associate Teacher (AT) position beginning August 2026. This is a 10-month teaching position with an excellent array of benefits and a competitive salary. The AT supports the classroom Lead Teachers in planning and teaching curriculum and facilitating assessments with students.
Key Responsibilities
- Attendance from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., in addition to occasional required professional commitments after 3:15, including faculty meetings, Back to School Nights, parent-teacher conferences, and other classroom commitments that may extend beyond these hours
- Work in tandem with the Lead Teacher(s) to establish and promote a professional, consistent, and positive classroom climate consistent with the GA Community Commitments and GA Mission
- Assist in the preparation of the classroom
- Assume supervisory duties to ensure the safety and welfare of all students
- Prepare lessons and materials within an existing classroom curriculum framework
- Teach various components of the program, including leading small group math or literacy lessons, throughout the day as scheduled
- Consult with the Lead Teacher when the Lead Teacher is absent from the classroom, in order to take on the lead role, as needed
- Monitor and communicate student progress to the Lead Teacher
- Assess and return homework and classroom assignments (e.g. assist in the editing and revision of students’ written work; confer with students regarding writing assignments, offering suggestions for revision and improvement)
- Extra-Curricular Activity (ECA) requirement: As part of the annual employment commitment at GA, Associate Teachers are required to work in the after school program (SPARK) one day/week until 5:15 pm for which they will receive additional compensation.
Qualifications
- 4-year college degree required; degree in elementary education preferred
- Experience working with elementary-aged children
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong collaboration, organization, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong work ethic, attendance, and punctuality
- Strong skills in using technology to support communications -Google apps, Microsoft Office, web-based applications
- Strong aptitude for learning educational technology to support student instruction-iPad applications, Google Education workspaces, digital media
- Strong interest in professional growth and development
