Low Voltage Technician

Objective

Lead the physical installation and inspections of life safety systems or other technologies on all assigned projects or inspections. Work alongside a team to ensure safety and quality objectives are met by adhering to industry standards and best practices.

Core Responsibilities

• Project and Inspection Kick‑Off Meeting: verify understanding of the project plan and review all project milestones; follow all safety requirements and project or inspection task responsibilities.
• Execute Project and Inspection Plan: lead daily work plan, enforce safe work practices, assist in cable pathway construction, cable pulling, device terminations, and system testing.
• Monitor life safety systems during inspections, ensure connected devices are tested correctly, and document test results.
• Communicate testing results and discrepancies to the team, addressing any malfunctions immediately.
• Review online documentation and checklists to ensure each scheduled device is tested; produce quality and efficient work.
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment; arrive on time and be self‑driven to accomplish tasks.
• Support team members by listening and gathering technical skill sets; act as a key team member for inspection training.
• Collaborate with leadership on process improvements and assist the sales team to solidify client relationships.
• Close projects and inspections: perform customer walk‑throughs if needed, submit documentation, and provide input to project managers on processes, procedures, tools, and best practices.
• Provide recommendations to sales and engineering on improvement areas and project or inspection successes.
• Support service ticket completion as assigned and participate in CEC’s 24/7 on‑call rotation.
• Other duties as assigned.

Travel required: 25%.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Technician III leads the installation or inspection team while they are working on assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience within CEC or a similar company.
• 2+ safety‑related certifications.
• 1 industry certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent; 2‑year technical degree preferred.
• Industry certifications and trainings can be obtained during the first year of employment to meet minimum qualifications when applicable.

Other Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication skills and general construction or mechanical knowledge.
• General knowledge of communications systems, including audio, video, security, fire alarm, health‑care, and data networks.
• PC proficiency in a Windows environment; working knowledge of Excel preferred.

• Problem‑solving, creative skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment based on accurate, timely analyses.
• High level of integrity, dependability, urgency, and results orientation.
• Ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet or use a lift to extended heights.
• Effective spoken and understood English communication.
• Physical demands: standing, walking, climbing, sitting, using hands and fingers; lifting objects up to 50 lb; reaching, grasping, and carrying.
• Vision requirements: close, distance, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Noise level: moderate; work primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.

This position is classified as a safety‑sensitive role. Employees are responsible for tasks that, if performed under the influence of drugs or alcohol, could pose a significant risk to health and safety. The role is subject to the company’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, including random screening. Continued employment is contingent upon compliance with this policy and passing required screenings.
