Low Voltage Technician

About the Role

Lead the physical installation and inspections of life safety systems or other technologies on all assigned projects. Work alongside a team to ensure safety and quality objectives are met by adhering to industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Verify understanding of the project plan and review all project milestones during kick-off meetings.
• Follow all safety requirements and project plan or inspection task responsibilities.
• Lead daily work on project and inspection plans, including safe work practices and requirements.
• Assist in cable pathway construction, cable pulling, device terminations, and system testing.
• Ask questions when needed and look for next steps in the project plan to stay productive.
• Monitor life safety systems during inspections and ensure connected devices are tested correctly.
• Document test results of inspections and communicate discrepancies to the team, addressing malfunctions immediately.
• Review online documentation and use checklists to ensure each device scheduled for testing is tested.
• Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
• Arrive at the job site on time and self-drive to accomplish needed tasks.
• Work as a supportive team member, listening and gathering technical skill sets.
• Serve as a key team member for inspection training.
• Work with leadership on process and continued improvements.
• Assist the Sales team to help solidify client relationships.
• Perform customer walk-throughs if needed and submit documentation on all assigned projects.
• Provide input to the Project Manager or Field Supervisor on processes, procedures, tools, and best practices for improvement.
• Give recommendations to Sales and Engineering on improvement areas and project or inspection successes.
• Support Service ticket completion as assigned and provide mandatory support to CEC's 24/7 On Call rotation.
• Lead Technician III teams during installation or inspection on assigned projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

25% travel required.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience within CEC or a similar company.
• 2+ safety-related certifications.
• 1 industry certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent; 2-year technical degree preferred.
• Industry certifications and trainings can/will be obtained during the first year of employment to meet minimum qualifications when applicable.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong communication skills and general construction or mechanical knowledge.
• General knowledge of communications systems, including audio, video, security, fire alarm, healthcare, and data networks.
• PC proficiency (Windows environment) and working knowledge of Excel is preferred.
• Problem-solving, creative skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

Physical, Mental & Environmental Requirements

• Ability to climb ladders up to 12 feet high or work in a lift at extended heights.
• Effectively speak and understand English language communications.
• Stand, walk, climb, sit, and use hands and fingers.
• Lift objects up to 50 lbs.
• Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment; occasional outside activities subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
