Low Voltage Installer (Access Control)

Contract position based in Sacramento, CA.

About the role

The Access Control Installer is responsible for the installation, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of commercial electronic security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, CCTV/video surveillance, and integrated security solutions. The technician works directly with customers, project managers, and other installation personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and terminate low-voltage cabling for access control, CCTV, intrusion alarm, and related security systems.
• Install and configure card readers, door contacts, request-to-exit devices, electric strikes, magnetic locks, and control panels.
• Program and test access control systems to ensure proper operation.
• Install and configure IP-based video surveillance systems and network-connected security devices.
• Perform system inspections, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematic diagrams, wiring drawings, and project specifications.
• Complete system commissioning and customer acceptance testing.
• Document work performed, service reports, equipment inventories, and project updates.
• Provide customer training on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with project managers, customers, and other technicians to ensure successful project completion.
• Maintain compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
• Travel to customer sites as required.

Requirements

• Experience with installation, programming, and troubleshooting of access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
• Proficiency in low-voltage cabling and network-connected security devices.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Compliance with company safety policies and industry regulations.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites.

Pay

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour.
