Loss Prevention Detective

About the role

This is a full-time, on-site Loss Prevention Detective role located in Solana Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Monitor store activity to identify, investigate, and help prevent theft, fraud, and safety risks.
• Conduct surveillance on the sales floor and backroom, utilizing CCTV systems.
• Perform investigations of suspicious behavior or incidents.
• Support store leadership by documenting cases, preserving evidence, and partnering on strategies to reduce shrink and improve overall security.
• Collaborate with store associates to promote awareness of loss prevention procedures, ensure compliance with company policies, and help maintain a safe environment for customers and team members.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Retail Loss Prevention, including shrink reduction strategies and store security practices.
• Strong Communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers, associates, and leadership.
• Experience with Surveillance activities, including discreet observation of store areas and monitoring for suspicious behavior.
• Proficiency in Investigation techniques, including incident documentation, evidence gathering, and case follow-up.
• Able to operate and interpret Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems for monitoring and investigative purposes.
• High level of integrity, sound judgment, and attention to detail in sensitive situations.
• Able to stand and walk for extended periods and respond quickly to active situations on the sales floor.
• Prior retail, security, or law enforcement experience is preferred but not required.
• A high school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in security or loss prevention is a plus.
