Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site surveys (45%) and risk evaluation (25%) of existing and prospective Starr Tech clients
  • Compile critical technical data and best practices (20%)
  • Attend client meetings (10%)
  • Maintain own schedule, monitored by the North American Construction Property Manager
  • Perform risk assessments for small, medium, and large projects across varying risk classifications (buildings, civil infrastructure, energy, chemical, petrochemical, process industries)
  • Produce narrative risk assessment loss control internal reports for the underwriting team and external risk reports for clients and/or follow insurers
  • Conduct plan reviews and provide guidance to underwriting staff regarding risk quality and insurability
  • Maintain up-to-date loss control systems (ELCS) data

Requirements

  • College graduate with strong communication and relationship skills
  • Degree in Civil, Construction, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred
  • Degree from an accredited engineering program desired; relevant industry experience will be considered
  • Some prior experience with insurance loss control is beneficial
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer system skills

Schedule

Position requires 35% overnight travel or stay (Hybrid). Engineer will be responsible for maintaining own schedule.
