About the role

The Toyota Expert Technician plays a vital role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Toyota vehicles with precision and efficiency. Positioned between Certified and Master Technician levels, the Expert Technician is a proven professional with advanced skills, a deep understanding of Toyota systems, and a commitment to ongoing Toyota training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Accurately completes repair orders and documents all work performed.
  • Performs safety inspections, preventative maintenance, and manufacturer-recommended services.
  • Follows Toyota and dealership processes and repair procedures with high attention to detail.
  • Assists less-experienced technicians with complex diagnostics and repairs.
  • Maintains an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Participates in ongoing Toyota training to maintain Expert Technician status and pursue Master Technician certification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Toyota Expert Technician certification (or progress toward Master Technician).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional automotive experience, with Toyota or Lexus vehicles preferred.
  • Completion of the Toyota T-TEN program or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Proficiency in mathematical principles (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying, and percentages) and their application.
  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
  • Strong diagnostic skills to determine causes of operating errors and decide on appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals and legal documents.
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other employees and pay attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information in English.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable safe driving record.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently bends, stretches, twists, or reaches with body, arms, and/or legs; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; and talks or hears.
  • Works outdoors in all weather conditions, including low and high temperatures, precipitation, and wind, as well as in noisy environments and small or enclosed spaces.
  • Adjusts, moves, and lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Moves in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remains in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Operates motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
  • Ascends or descends ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
