Long-Form Content Writer (AP-Style)

About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Long Form Content Writer to create compelling, high-quality content for both business and consumer audiences. In this freelance role, you’ll bring a journalist’s mindset to long-form storytelling—researching, interviewing, fact-checking, and transforming complex topics into clear, engaging content. You’ll work in a fast-paced, high-volume content environment and partner with stakeholders to move projects from idea through publication.

Responsibilities

• Write polished, conversational long-form content for business and consumer audiences.
• Develop content ideas and contribute actively to planning, strategy, and editorial discussions.
• Conduct interviews, research topics thoroughly, and apply expert-level fact-checking.
• Edit content for accuracy, clarity, tone, and adherence to AP Style and Yahoo! Style.
• Create copy for a range of content formats, including articles, infographics, eBooks, video scripts, reports, and white papers.
• Apply SEO best practices and use performance metrics to inform content decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and help keep projects on schedule.
• Use AI and LLM tools thoughtfully to support content production and SEO workflows.

Requirements

• 7+ years of extensive professional experience in long-form writing and editing
• A recent portfolio of publicly available published work from the past three years.
• Strong journalism-style research, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
• Demonstrated expertise in SEO content and writing for measurable performance outcomes.
• Exceptional editing, fact-checking, and attention to detail.
• Confidence working with executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to manage priorities independently, respond constructively to feedback, and adapt as business needs evolve.
• Interest in AI and LLMs and their practical applications in content production.

Schedule and Location

This is a contract position, 40 hours per week, with a hybrid schedule (3 days per week onsite) in Dallas.
