Logistics Technician (Building/Vehicle Ops)
Job Summary
The Facilities Specialist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and managing Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) integration facilities supporting space technology programs. This role focuses on facility management for government spacecraft integration facilities, cleanrooms, laboratories, and mission operations infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily facility operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable support of business and program activities.
Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, security, and other building systems.
Troubleshoot facility issues and coordinate contractors or vendors for complex repairs and upgrades.
Maintain critical utilities, backup power systems, and specialized equipment as required.
Coordinate facility support for spacecraft assembly, integration, testing, and flight operations activities.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree
Experience: Junior: 0-3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, Journeyman: 3-10 years of experience in facilities maintenance
Clearance: Secret, TS/SCI preferred
Minimum Skills Required: Knowledge of building systems, facility maintenance procedures, and preventive maintenance practices; Understanding of safety regulations including OSHA, Air Force Instructions, and DoD safety standards; Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot facility systems; Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent tasks; Effective communication skills for coordinating with vendors, contractors, and government personnel; Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and facility maintenance management software
Preferred Skills: Experience with spacecraft integration facilities, cleanrooms, or aerospace laboratory environments; Prior experience supporting AFRL, DoD laboratories, or Air Force facilities; Knowledge of cleanroom operations and contamination control procedures; Experience with facility security systems and access control management; Certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other building systems trades; Experience with hazardous materials management and hazardous waste disposal; Familiarity with Air Force Instructions including: AFI 32-7042 (Waste Management) AFI 32-7086 (Hazardous Materials Management) AFI 91-202 (Mishap Prevention Program) AFI 48-139 (Laser Safety Program) AFI 90-821 (Hazard Communication Program); Experience serving as Chemical Hygiene Officer, Hazard Communication Program Manager, or Unit Safety Representative; Knowledge of 29 CFR 1910.1200 (Hazard Communication Standard); Experience with facility accreditation processes for SCIFs or classified facilities; Familiarity with electrostatic discharge (ESD) control and cleanroom protocols; Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); Knowledge of crane operations and overhead lifting equipment; Experience coordinating with base civil engineering and facility support organizations; Understanding of Mission Operations Center facility requirements; Professional certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facilities Management Professional (FMP), or equivalent OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification; First Aid/CPR/AED certification; Experience with government property management and inventory control; Knowledge of environmental compliance and sustainability programs
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders for extended periods; Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions, both indoors and outdoors; May be required to respond to emergencies outside of regular work hours.
Work Schedule: Full-time position, typically working 40 hours per week. Additional hours may be required depending on operational needs.
