About the role
The Logistics Technician is responsible for EMSA’s ambulance supplies and equipment. Duties include maintaining inventory, managing records, inspecting, cleaning, and repairing medical equipment, and ensuring supplies and ambulances are in good working order.
Responsibilities
- Maintains complete and accurate inventory and asset control.
- Manages records for medical equipment and supplies including exchanged items in locations where first responder items are pooled.
- Inventory and restock medical equipment and supplies in stockroom and on ambulances.
- Issues required supplies and equipment to appropriate Team Members and maintains inventory of items.
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs medical equipment as required.
- Completes records and reports in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoots medical equipment and ensures proper safeguarding of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area.
- Reports any undesired abnormalities in supplies, inventory levels, equipment, ambulances, building, grounds/property, and staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Current state driver’s license with no moving violations.
- Previous experience with maintaining inventory and counts preferred.
- Experience in a medical setting preferred.
- Able to lift medical equipment and supplies weighing up to 100 lbs.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screen to the satisfaction of the organization.
- Driver’s license must be issued within the past 24 months and not be provisional/permit status.
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory counts.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Accurate auditing and recording of assets.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and in writing).
- Understanding of medical equipment with ability to learn new material.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with Team Members.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, and through radio and telephone communications.

Other Functions
Drive an ambulance, non-emergency, to pick up EMS equipment left at hospitals, as well as moving ambulances on EMSA premises. Performs other job-related duties, functions, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned, which may vary based on evolving organizational needs and priorities.
Physical Demands
- Lifting and moving of equipment up to 100 lbs.
- Frequently required to use the hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms;
- Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Maintain physical condition to enable proper performance of assigned job functions as determined by company policy.
Work Environment
- Regularly required to work in outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- Noisy environment.
