Location: El Paso, Texas, USA – Systems Protection business unit, Supply Chain department
About the role
Leads the Materials/Logistics team in meeting company goals and standards. Acts as the on-site authority when management is not present, including serving as the emergency Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, develop, coach, and discipline shipping, receiving, and material controlling personnel and functions
- Ensure compliance with plant policies, procedures, and Tenneco’s Zero Tolerance policy for safety
- Organize manpower, verify/approve payroll hours, and manage assigned cost centers
- Conduct daily walk-throughs in shipping, receiving, and rack areas to address EHS issues
- Participate in corrective actions related to Quality, EHS, and Engineering
- Develop team capabilities to meet ongoing business demands and cross-train employees for departmental flexibility
- Enforce the Pay-for-Knowledge training program and communicate training needs to HR
- Conduct annual performance evaluations and address performance issues as needed
- Counsel receiving personnel on conflict resolution and take disciplinary action when required
- Participate in continual improvement initiatives
- Perform waiting-to-ship analysis and ensure accurate, timely processing of invoices, ASN data, and customer receipts
- Manage outbound logistics, including expedited freight, customs transactions, and freight cost analysis
- Negotiate pricing for premium freight and arrange special shipping (counter-to-counter, international, inter-company)
- Ensure inventory accuracy for waiting-to-ship, receiving, and materials racks
- Oversee freight claims, RMA processing, and accurate inventory data entry
- Maintain fork-lift trucks and packaging area via vendor pulls and supplies
- Publish customer cut-off times and shipping days; interface with accounting to verify invoicing
- Adhere to EHS Cardinal Rules, report all accidents/injuries, and wear required personal protective equipment
- Exercise authority to stop unsafe operations, behaviors, or conditions
- Comply with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IATF16949/AS9100, and federal/state/local regulations

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, and logistics
- Supervisory or management experience required
- 5 years of experience with freight carriers and ability to negotiate pricing
- Working knowledge of UPS/FedEx online systems and international shipping/receiving documentation
- Experience with shipping/receiving functions of MRP software, preferably SAP
- 5–8 years of experience with automotive customers, especially ASN and labeling requirements
- Understanding of inventory cycle counts, transactions, and FIFO
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced warehouse environment
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Computer literacy and strong knowledge of Environmental, Health & Safety requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
