Responsibilities
The Logistics Specialist will maintain communication with carriers, suppliers, warehouses, custom brokers, TAPCO personnel, 3PL providers, brokers and others involved in the shipping and delivery of goods.
- Understanding planning, shipping, warehouse management and warehouse systems
- Manage daily routes/schedules of inbound and outbound shipments and tracks progress
- Coordinate with direct reports to review all outstanding and planned shipments
- Schedule inbound deliveries by coordinating with Purchasing & Planning
- Coordinate with the Warehouse supervisor on personnel workload and scheduling issues
- Ensure that Transfer Sheets and PO receipts are completed and verified
- Ensuring that procedures are completed in accordance with established Logistics and Transportation processes
- Ensures that all employees are aware of their job duties and are cross-trained in any capacity that is necessary to aid in the development and growth of staff
- Observe employee’s performance and trains in proper processes and standards
- Enforce safety guidelines and rules, OSHA requirements and all company policies within area
- Able to create graphs and PowerPoint presentations to communicate set Transportation metrics
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Associates degree in supply chain management, business, mathematics or industrial engineering, preferred or 3+ years as a Logistics / Transportation / Traffic Manager
- Experience managing / supervising other employees
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, PowerPoint & Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong math skills
- Strong organizational, supervisory, and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and supervise others’ work
