Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate outbound domestic and international shipments with appropriate carriers.
- Conduct rate shopping to secure competitive freight pricing and validate against contract terms.
- Prepare and verify all shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and export/customs documentation.
- Partner with customs brokers to ensure compliance and timely clearance of international shipments.
- Maintain accurate and accessible shipping records.
- Develop and maintain transportation / logistics KPIs, including: Freight spend by mode, Cost per pound, Cost per shipment, Accessorial spend, On-time delivery performance, Carrier utilization, Premium freight tracking.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual freight spend analysis to identify trends, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Analyze data from TMS, ERP systems, carrier reports, and invoices to support decision-making.
- Create executive dashboards, scorecards, and report presentations for Supply Chain leadership.
- Conduct variance analysis, including: Budget vs. actual spend, Year-over-year trends, Month-over-month performance, Identify consolidation opportunities and recommend routing optimization strategies.
- Support inbound freight initiatives, including supplier freight analysis and carrier conversion tracking.
- Monitor and report compliance with SOPs and transportation initiatives across all SSP locations.
- Audit freight invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance.
- Maintain and update freight rate agreements and supporting data.
- Resolve discrepancies and escalate billing issues when necessary.
- Investigate and manage freight claims.
- Cook up return material authorizations (RMAs) with accurate routing and documentation.
- Perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurring logistics issues.
- Review carrier performance reports and address delivery discrepancies.
- Manage shipment diversions, reconsignments, and service adjustments.
- Monitor shipments and proactively escalate critical issues impacting delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, carriers, brokers, and customers.
- Provide timely shipment updates and documentation.
- Serve as an escalation point for logistics-related issues.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the transportation network.
- Support process improvements and participate in logistics audits and optimization efforts.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication skills with the ability to manage high-volume correspondence.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); TMS experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of accountability and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to quality.
Education & Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or shipping coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
