Logistics Supervisor

Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and develop warehouse logistics, transportation, and dock operations personnel across multiple facilities
- Directly supervise transportation coordinators, local box truck drivers, and logistics team members
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and daily operating rhythms
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management activities
- Foster a culture of urgency, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
- Build cross-functional collaboration between Logistics, Production, Planning, Procurement, and Warehouse Operations
- Transportation & Logistics Operations
- Manage daily transportation scheduling and execution for internal transfers, inbound deliveries, and outbound shipments
- Coordinate local fleet operations, including company box trucks and drivers
- Optimize transportation routes, schedules, and shipment consolidation opportunities
- Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency and reduce waste
- Ensure shipments are executed accurately and on-time while supporting customer and production requirements
- Coordinate dock scheduling and shipping/receiving priorities across facilities
- Escalate and resolve transportation disruptions, shortages, and scheduling conflicts
- Manage domestic and international freight activity to support production schedules and customer requirements
- Partner with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure efficient transportation execution
- Monitor transportation performance, transit times, and freight costs across multiple transportation modes
- Evaluate transportation strategies and opportunities to improve service levels while reducing overall logistics costs
- Warehouse & Dock Operations
- Support warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, staging, inventory movement, and material flow
- Ensure receiving and shipping documentation is completed accurately and timely
- Help maintain organized warehouse layouts and efficient dock operations
- Partner with materials and production teams to ensure smooth material movement throughout facilities
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, material handling standards, and operational best practices
- Assist with inventory accuracy initiatives, audits, and material transaction discipline
- International Logistics & Trade Coordination
- Support international inbound and outbound freight operations, including ocean, air, and ground transportation activities
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient movement of international shipments
- Maintain working knowledge of Incoterms and support proper application of shipping responsibilities, freight ownership, and risk transfer requirements
- Monitor international shipment activity and proactively address transportation delays, customs holds, documentation issues, and supply chain disruptions
- Partner with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to support supplier logistics strategies and inbound transportation planning
- Develop understanding of tariffs, duties, and landed cost impacts to support operational decision-making and transportation planning
- Help identify opportunities to reduce freight spend, improve transit performance, and mitigate international logistics risks
- Support documentation requirements associated with international shipments and imports
- Maintain visibility of international freight pipelines and communicate risks that may impact production schedules or customer commitments
- Systems, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Utilize ERP systems and operational data to manage logistics execution and performance
- Analyze transportation costs, shipment trends, dock performance, and operational KPIs
- Develop and maintain reporting using Excel, Google Sheets, and ERP reporting tools
- Support ERP process improvements and logistics workflow development within Microsoft Business Central (BC)
- Identify process gaps, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies and lead corrective actions
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on logistics flow, transportation efficiency, and warehouse organization
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment
- Prior experience leading frontline or hourly operational teams
- Strong understanding of shipping, receiving, transportation coordination, and warehouse operations
- Experience working with ERP systems in logistics or warehouse environments
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple operational demands
- Familiarity with Incoterms, carrier coordination, and shipping documentation requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets for operational analysis and reporting
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced operational environments
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC)
- Experience supporting multi-site operations or internal material transfers
- Knowledge of freight management, transportation planning, and routing concepts
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
- Experience supporting ERP implementations or operational system transitions
- Forklift certification or prior material handling leadership experience
- Experience within high-mix, engineered-to-order, or industrial manufacturing environments
