About the role
The Logistics Supervisor at Georgia Pacific's Brewton, AL mill provides leadership to achieve key operation objectives in safety, environmental compliance, reliability, production, quality, and cost. This leader develops the hourly operations employees' capabilities and manages all aspects of their performance.
Responsibilities
- Drive a culture of safety and environmental excellence through critical hazard identification, risk reduction, and risk mitigation; ensures compliance standards are met
- Lead, develop, and mentor direct reports with behaviors and actions that advance our culture
- Improve customer supply processes through root cause problem identification and elimination
- Ensure team understands the value of our customer needs
- Partner with mill leadership team, external and internal customers, and others to identify and address performance and knowledge gaps
- Manage individual performance and hold individuals accountable for their results through vision setting, one-on-one conversations, and performance feedback
- Practice Principled Entrepreneurship™ by applying the judgement, responsibility, initiative, economic/critical thinking skills, and sense of urgency necessary to generate the greatest contribution
- Utilize strong communication (written and verbal), organizational, and planning/scheduling/execution skills
- Provide weekly work schedule and timely pay actions consistent with our labor agreement
- Available for on-call needs – after hours, weekend and holiday as necessary
- Ensure compliance with the Product Stewardship Compliance Standard and the mill product safety plan
- Employ strong interpersonal skills to influence and facilitate change in the department and the process; acting as a positive change agent for continued development and improvement within a "shift runs a shift" environment
- Encourage and incentivize knowledge sharing and transfer between team members
- Support the skills qualification and knowledge evaluation processes for operators to assist in talent gap closure plans and ensure timely skills advancement and learning
- Assist in managing competing priorities in a flow-to-work environment and providing on-shift coaching and feedback to control room operators, field personnel, support personnel, and utility positions
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Supervisory experience in an industrial, warehouse, manufacturing/production or military environment
- Experience and knowledge of inventory control processes
- Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Teams
What Will Put You Ahead
- Associate degree or higher
- Experience with logistics or scheduling/receiving deliveries in a warehouse, manufacturing/production, or military environment
- Experience in shipping software programs and automated roll handling equipment
- Knowledge of drop yard and rail operations
