About the role
Provides leadership to a materials/warehouse operation at the Carrier Transicold Athens facility. Responsible for all aspects associated with effectively receiving, shipping, and storing products. Reports to the Materials Manager.
Responsibilities
- Effectively leads a materials department focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Ensures all safety guidelines are followed consistently.
- Develops and supports a 5S mindset in all plant areas.
- Champions high employee morale, promoting fair and equal treatment focused on results.
- Conducts employee performance reviews providing effective and constructive feedback.
- Absorbs and resolves gaps throughout the day.
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing or problem-solving techniques.
- Ensures environmental compliance and policies are followed.
- Plans daily activities including workforce requirements handling vacations, schedule/unscheduled absenteeism, and overtime within budget and company policies.
- Leads associate skills matrices to effectively staff an efficient operation that promotes quality.
- Builds and performs training requirements as needed.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience working with OSHA regulations (such as Confined Spaces, Electrical Safety, Energy Isolation, and Machine Safeguarding).
- 2+ years of experience managing teams in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Operations or Engineering.
- Patience, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Learns new tasks quickly and identifies improvement opportunities.
- Ability to interact with various departments, levels of the organization, associates, customers, and management in Athens.
- Flexibility to work past established starting and ending times.
- Highly focused and results-oriented in supporting complex operations.
- Ability to conduct all business and personal affairs in a professional and ethical manner.
- High-energy with a pleasant and professional demeanor that promotes a team atmosphere that delivers results.
- Proven ability to implement change in materials systems.
- Basic computer proficiency with email and Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $64,500.00 - $129,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
