Logistics Specialist I

Job Summary

Captures inbound and outbound logistical operations, including inventory management, warehousing, and transportation to ensure sufficient supply of goods and products. Controls the commercial impact of activities such as receiving, locating, dispatching, sourcing, purchasing, and optimizing inventory levels. Administers an effective system meeting the organization's inventory control needs through efficient transportation of raw materials, component parts, and/or finished goods.

Impact of the Role

Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a job discipline. Performs routine assignments using existing procedures. Receives instruction, guidance, and direction from more senior level roles. Entry-level to a professional career progression. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment.

Essential Functions

  • Assists in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure quality and cost control.
  • Collaborates with other teams to improve efficiency, productivity, and processes.
  • Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory, and analyzes requirements to develop strategies for desired delivery times and order fill rates.
  • Maintains appropriate records and prepares reports.
  • Captures logistics activities with internal/external customers.
  • May include responsibilities for Inventory Control, including:
    • Ensuring inventories are secure, properly identified, and readily accessible to authorized personnel.
    • Maintains controls over various types of inventories (e.g., raw materials, subassemblies, finished goods).
    • Conducts physical inventory counts and reconciles results with inventory records.
    • Ensures quantities of incoming and outgoing shipments are correct.
    • Conducts analyses of inventory levels and coordinates with production and sales requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 0-3 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
  • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree Discipline/Major: Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Computer skills. Mathematical skills. Analytical thinking skills. Statistical knowledge. Problem-solving skills.
