About the role
We have a great opportunity for a Logistics Specialist to join our team in Chicago, IL. In this role, your main responsibility will be as a Pick-up and Delivery Driver on a daily basis, transporting materials and equipment to and from customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Enter a variety of data using current technology to maintain inventory control.
- Keep Trescal’s ERP System up to date with pertinent shipping and receiving information.
- Ensure the integrity of system inventory data for assigned areas of responsibility.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of assigned inventory areas.
- Maintain records as required by the quality system.
- Appropriately package and ship equipment to customers and vendors, verifying accessories and options according to shipping policies.
- Receive, unpack, and account for the contents of all inbound orders.
- Verify the accuracy of incoming shipments against documentation and identify discrepancies and damage.
- Research and implement shipping options for unusual packaging situations or customer requirements.
- Initiate and manage shipping claims through to resolution, maintaining contact with delivery services and affected customers.
- Use UPS (Worldship) and FedEx to generate shipping labels.
- Maintain relationships with UPS, FedEx, and other relevant parcel sales contacts.
- Perform database equipment entry and validations, verifying manufacturer/model/serial numbers and customer requirements.
- Drive a truck or van to transport materials and equipment to and from customer sites, with extensive driving required at least 1-2 times per week.
- Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, and required documentation.
- Handle, load, and secure items to prevent damage during transport.
- Inventory client assets upon pick-up.
- Perform basic vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Provide professional, courteous service when interacting with customers at their facilities.
- Follow all safety procedures, traffic laws, and company policies.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, and other logistics tasks as needed.
Requirements
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- The ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL not required).
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- Previous work experience in a shipping and receiving role.
- Experience using shipping software such as UPS WorldShip or FedEx.
- Prior experience driving a company vehicle, including pickup and delivery of equipment and/or supplies.
