Logistics Specialist

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Cook up and optimize the flow of materials, products, and information across the supply chain
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including scheduling carriers and tracking deliveries
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure material availability and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory records in internal systems
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and warehouse teams to meet operational needs
  • Handle shipping discrepancies, delays, or damages promptly
  • Analyze logistics data to spot inefficiencies and suggest process enhancements
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards
  • Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and carriers to meet service expectations
  • Prepare and review shipping documents such as BOLs, packing lists, invoices, etc.
  • Support cost control initiatives by evaluating freight rates and transportation methods

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • A solid grasp of supply chain and logistics processes
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); ERP or WMS experience is a plus
  • The capability to analyze data and generate reports
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards

Education and Experience (Required Levels)

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is preferred
  • Two to four years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing
  • Occasional walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Frequent talking and hearing
  • Occasional hand lifting and moving objects up to 25 pounds
