Logistics Manager - Operations
About the role
This position provides leadership in the organization and Project or functional area and is primarily engaged in planning and operational activities that establish the direction of a department, function, or project. The position requires the application of knowledge gained from experience and expertise to the job duties and responsibilities. The position will make decisions in areas that may impact the Project, organization and its employees, clients, budgets, policies, procedures, work practices, or compliance programs. This position requires strategic thinking and action, considering all available facts and data, as well as considering alternative courses of action, resources, constraints, and company values.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement logistics strategy
- Execute complex logistically challenging capital projects and ensure successful execution associated with the logistics component of the project(s)
- Perform project logistics execution
- Apply knowledge pertaining to global commerce and trade, as well as global trade compliance standards
- Prepare complex logistics plans and associated logistics budgets (cost and hours) for large size projects
- Execute complex logistics plans
- Manage and oversee 3rd party logistics providers
- Develop complex scopes for logistics contracts (i.e., logistics surveys, transportation, freight forwarding, export packing, customs clearance, etc.)
- Analyze situations, identify and forecast problems, evaluate options, and implement appropriate actions
- Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects effectively to meet critical deadlines
Requirements
- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and fourteen (14) years* of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to eighteen (18) years*
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Qualifications
- Management degree in Logistics Management / International Trade / Import Export, and should have at least 15 years of experience in handling project logistics with EPC companies
- Fluor Logistics Operational experience strongly preferred
- Experience in Capital Project Logistics specific to Mining and Metals
- Knowledge and understanding of International Commercial Terms (INCOTERMS)
- Knowledge of Import/Export compliance
- Understanding of all modes of transportation (ocean, air, land,)
- Proficiency in Chartering and Domestic freight management
- Awareness of interfacing disciplines, including Procurement, Contracting, Construction
- Strong relationship with Logistics service providers
