About the role

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role supports all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovation. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating across AWS to deliver high standards for safety, security, and seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost.

As a Data Center Logistics Manager, you’ll partner with Infrastructure teams and Amazon stakeholders to manage communication, team metrics, and deliverables. This role requires analytical strength, attention to detail, open communication, and the ability to work autonomously with a strong sense of urgency and sound judgment. You’ll drive streamlined activities, ensure success for the business, and lead your team to invent and simplify at local, regional, and cross-regional scales.

This role is located in New Carlisle, IN.

Responsibilities

  • Logistics Operations Leader:
    • Guarantee smooth daily, monthly, and yearly operations to meet customer and business expectations.
    • Develop performance goals and objectives to ensure accuracy and quality.
    • Build and execute productivity plans by reviewing work forecasts and balancing labor with other Logistics Managers.
    • Determine timelines that meet business and customer expectations and ensure they are met.
    • Partner with the management team to establish and maintain quality control standards.
    • Remove roadblocks and obstacles for major initiatives.
  • Logistics Business Leader:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for communication and escalation to internal and external teams/customers.
    • Develop team strategies, vision, and goals aligned with the broader organization.
    • Ensure operational practices comply with legislation and policy.
    • Filter and communicate information from higher management to teams.
    • Create, manage, and support recognition and communication programs.
  • Logistics People Leader:
    • Manage and drive staffing plans, schedules, quality initiatives, performance levels, and process changes.
    • Facilitate team coordination and cohesion.
    • Maintain a strong focus on personal and team growth and development.
    • Support projects outside of day-to-day operations.
    • Distribute new opportunities fairly among the team.
    • Hold regular 1:1s focused on personal development.
    • Ensure accountability and documentation for coaching opportunities.
    • Open new requisitions and raise the bar for internal hires.
    • Be accessible at all times via telephone, text, or instant messaging.
    • Participate in management escalations outside normal business hours as needed.
  • Process Improver:
    • Champion continuous improvement and process standardization across the organization.
    • Contribute to operational deployment plans outlining critical and best-practice launch activities.
    • Teach teams to create documents, processes, tools, and metrics that reflect outcomes.
    • Conduct post-deployment evaluations to measure launch effectiveness (PDSA).
    • Advise team members on process improvement strategies.
    • Conduct monthly audits using a standardized checklist.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Lead team meetings and represent Logistics locally and/or globally.
    • Travel between sites and across the cluster as needed.
    • Design and implement the risk assessment framework for the AWS transportation program.
    • Anticipate challenges and obstacles in transportation expansion and manage compliance.
    • Research state/local fleet and driver regulations and ensure specific SOPs are in place.
    • Ensure team compliance with policies (e.g., information security, data handling, PCI, accessibility, SLAs).
    • Define metrics to measure customer experience and allocate time for operational metrics, training, and documentation.
    • Prioritize root cause resolution, automation, and projects that improve customer experience and team environment.

Think tactically by using expertise and high judgment to establish the right team structure to respond to customer needs and short-term business goals. Ensure your team(s) operate efficiently, meet SLAs, and deliver results. Create plans, communicate requirements, negotiate priorities, and define success across all levels.

Think strategically by setting a vision, designing a strategy, and achieving consensus on priorities that align with long-term business goals. Ensure outcomes are auditable, decisions are data-driven, and work quality is measurable. Use this to determine where to simplify or extend solutions for the best outcome.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience using productivity and communications tools including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • 3+ years of people management and team development experience.
  • 3+ years of logistics experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization without direct reporting relationships.
  • Experience working proactively and independently, meeting deadlines, and delivering on projects and tasks.
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
  • Experience working for Amazon or any Amazon subsidiary or affiliate, or experience assessing industry talent and trends.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $113,600.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
