Logistics Loading Dock Coordinator

In this role, you will report to the Site Manager and work closely with Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, package, and process domestic and international shipments in accordance with applicable regulations and customer requirements.
- Support Dangerous Goods classification activities utilizing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and regulatory guidance.
- Generate, verify, and maintain shipping documentation, including:
- Commercial invoices
- Customs documentation
- Airway bills
- Shipping labels
- Export/import paperwork
- Coordinate shipment schedules with carriers, freight providers, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, safety standards, GMP/GLP requirements, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Support issue resolution, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and prioritize daily shipment and loading dock workflows.
- Support frontline team members in shipment preparation, sample handling, and documentation activities.
- Provide first-level escalation support for operational issues and shipment delays.
- Monitor adherence to operational procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with inventory, warehousing, and distribution activities as needed.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance-related activities.
- Perform shipping and receiving activities in a regulated loading dock environment.
- Safely operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Load, unload, inspect, and stage incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Maintain organized and compliant storage areas.
- Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all incoming and outgoing materials.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
- Previous experience in sample logistics, laboratory operations, shipping and receiving, warehousing, or supply chain environments.
- Experience coordinating shipment activities and supporting logistics operations.
- Experience working within a loading dock or warehouse setting.
- Knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes and documentation.
- Experience operating forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience handling regulated, hazardous, or Dangerous Goods materials.
- Experience working in GMP, GLP, GxP, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, laboratory, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with global shipping, import/export documentation, customs requirements, and compliance regulations.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections, CAPAs, or regulatory compliance programs.
- Experience in laboratory sample management or controlled material handling.
Skills
- Working knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations, including:
- IATA
- ADR
- IMDG
- Understanding of Known Consignor requirements.
- Knowledge of GMP, GLP, and GxP standards.
- Familiarity with warehouse, inventory, materials management, and distribution processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics-related systems.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles is a plus.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced operational environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a shipping, warehouse, and loading dock environment.
- Ability to lift, move, and transport materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform material handling activities for extended periods.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment as required.

Pay
Hourly pay range: $26.00 - $28.00
The expected pre-tax annual pay for this position is $45,000.00 - $72,450.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
