About the Role

The Logistics Field Representative is responsible for strategically managing customer relations and satisfaction within a defined geographic area. This role focuses on leading process improvement initiatives to optimize product delivery cycle times, reduce order processing costs, and maximize truck capacity. The representative serves as the key field liaison for the Logistics Services Center, negotiating third-party hauling rates, driving technology adoption (Trux), and proactively resolving logistics-related customer issues to achieve strategic and tactical business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide smart scheduling and freight pricing recommendations to maximize truck capacity, meet job-site coverage, and improve delivery and job-site turn times.
  • Perform job-site evaluations for large projects and collaborate with customers on job-site requirements.
  • Participate in large project status meetings and serve as the Logistics Services Center's eyes and ears on the job-site.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers when necessary.
  • Recruit and attract independent haulers, collaborating with Trux on hauler onboarding activities.
  • Lead Trux adoption efforts to achieve 100% adoption, if necessary.
  • Negotiate haul rates and arrange for contract hauling at stated prices, including hourly haul rates where applicable.
  • Address and resolve any logistics-related issues or customer complaints promptly and effectively.
  • Understand market dynamics and proactively identify issues or concerns that could impact customer service, developing corrective actions as needed.
  • Work closely with sales and marketing to develop a flexible organization focused on satisfying customer needs and solving customer problems.
  • Recommend and implement changes to the order fulfillment process.
  • Initiate and maintain a measurement system to track sales performance and customer satisfaction (e.g., round-trip times, loads per day, production/freight attainment).
  • Identify and develop training programs to address sales or customer service issues.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in business administration, logistics, construction management, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the aggregate business with a good understanding of business functions and key metrics for sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Prior experience in customer service or support.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong logistics, dispatch, and customer service skills.
  • Experience in setting and managing pricing.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Preferred experience in aggregate and/or short-haul trucking.
  • P&L responsibility experience.
  • Knowledge of business and organizational practices, as well as the construction materials industry (aggregates and asphalt).
  • Able to quickly analyze and understand complex business and organizational issues.
  • Able to develop creative solutions to complex business and organizational issues.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to use common office tools and technology (e.g., cell/office telephone, calculator, computer, and other electronic devices).
  • Capable of travel (both ground and air) as needed.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Able to work in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment requiring quick and creative problem-solving.
  • Strong recall of detailed information and effective communication with customers and haulers.
  • Possess effective presentation and interpersonal skills appropriate for all levels of the organization.

Pay

The base salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $120,000 annually. This range is not inclusive of discretionary bonus or equity packages. Compensation is determined based on skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
