Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead daily dispatch schedules for all deliveries and pickups.
- Plan, optimize, and adjust routes in real time using routing platforms.
- Communicate in English and Spanish with drivers throughout execution.
- Monitor routes via Samsara and resolve delays or issues immediately.
- Serve as an escalation point for all delivery and routing issues.
- Own driver scheduling to ensure coverage, efficiency, and DOT compliance.
- Hire, onboard, train, and supervise drivers and dispatch staff.
- Develop and manage driver performance using a Samsara-based scorecard (safety, on-time, compliance).
- Coach drivers and administer corrective action based on performance data.
- Ensure proper use of driver mobility devices (ELDs, tablets, apps).
- Carefully coordinate staging, loading, and dispatch timing with warehouse teams.
- Verify trucks are loaded correctly, safely, and aligned to route plans.
- Ensure proper handling of high-value and fragile inventory.
- Maintain full ownership of DOT and FMCSA compliance.
- Manage compliance systems including JJ Keller Encompass and Samsara ELD.
- Ensure hours-of-service, inspections, and documentation are complete and accurate.
- Support fleet readiness, inspections, and maintenance coordination.
- Track delivery performance, route efficiency, and operational KPIs.
- Identify trends and implement improvements using Samsara data.
- Communicate with internal teams to ensure execution meets event timelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual English/Spanish required.
- Strong DOT and FMCSA compliance background.
- Minimum 5 years in high-volume transportation or logistics environment.
- Experience with driver scheduling, dispatch, and route optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Samsara, JJ Keller Encompass, routing platforms, and driver mobility devices.
- Leadership experience managing drivers in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with driver performance scorecards and data-driven management.
- Reasonable Suspicion (DOT Drug & Alcohol) certification or ability to obtain.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach throughout the workday.
- Frequently required to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted; team lift required for items exceeding 50 lbs.
- Able to climb ladders and work at heights consistent with warehouse racking environments.
- Able to remain on feet for extended periods and move throughout a large warehouse facility.
