About the role
The Logistics Coordinator is part of the Shipping team at the Shafter Shingle Plant, operating within the broader Supply Chain department. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient flow of outbound materials and inbound supplies through daily coordination with internal departments and external carriers.
Responsibilities
- Receive raw material into PeopleSoft, ensuring accuracy and timely entry for fiberglass mat, scrim, bundle wrap, etc.
- Process and reconcile material in PeopleSoft to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Bill out railcars prior to cutoff times to support outbound shipment deadlines.
- Help outbound truck and trailer appointments to optimize dock capacity and efficiency.
- Maintain the dock schedule in real time, coordinating with carriers and warehouse personnel.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, answering inquiries regarding paperwork, assignments, and schedule updates.
- Respond promptly to calls and emails, managing changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Populate and maintain weekly shipment reports for tracking performance.
- Track and report Average Time on Property (ATOP).
- Order and manage office supplies and ensure teams have access to necessary materials.
- Generate accurate paperwork for outbound LTL shipments across all warehouses.
- Support LTL appointment scheduling and documentation coordination.
- Reprint prior-day BOLs and ensure shipping documents are accurate before departure.
- Work with Truck Operators and drivers to confirm shipment accuracy and prevent paperwork errors.
- Order and maintain dunnage inventory (e.g., pallets, airbags, containers).
- Monitor supply levels to prevent disruptions in the shipping process.
- Ensure adherence to all company shipping/receiving policies and procedures.
- Support initiatives that optimize dock flow or improve appointment booking workflows.
- Uphold all company safety policies and demonstrate safe practices throughout daily operations.
- Troubleshoot urgent issues related to LTL shipments, missed appointments, or documentation errors.
- Take a proactive approach to resolving inquiries regarding BOLs or carrier performance.
- Cookrail Management & Logistics
- Coordinate weekly rail supply from BN and UP sites and ensure adequate car availability.
- Forecast volume and align with shipping schedules to minimize delays.
- Bill out and release railcars in a timely manner.
- Print and prepare railcar orders for next-day loading.
- Lead weekly rail calls to review shipment performance and address potential bottlenecks.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three years of Plant specific experience
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and software, such as web-based Carrier Point
