About the Role
The Logistics Coordinator leads national freight and shipping operations, focusing on the movement of ice cream products and equipment from the central distribution center to depots and third-party customers across the country. This role oversees freight planning, carrier relationships, backhaul revenue, shipment coordination, cost management, and inventory support in partnership with depot leadership and operations teams. The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in improving shipping efficiency, maintaining service reliability, and supporting scalable distribution practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement freight strategies that improve shipping efficiency, service levels, and cost effectiveness.
- Negotiate freight rates, shipping terms, and service expectations with carriers and logistics partners.
- Coordinate daily product and equipment shipments in partnership with the fleet administration team.
- Collaborate with regional leaders and depot managers to assess inventory needs and support market requirements.
- Monitor carrier performance, delivery timelines, and shipment accuracy to ensure reliable execution.
- Work with third-party brokers to coordinate backhaul revenue.
- Coordinate product shipments from the central distribution center to depots and third-party customers.
- Support inventory availability by proactively communicating shipment timing, capacity constraints, and service risks.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of freight management, logistics, transportation, or distribution experience, preferably in a national or multi-regional environment.
- Strong understanding of demand planning, inventory coordination, and direct-store-delivery operating models.
- Experience negotiating freight rates, carrier agreements, and shipping costs with external partners.
- Familiarity with fleet tracking or logistics systems such as Samsara, Geotab, Verizon Connect, or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheet development, and demand planning or logistics management tools.
- Excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, fleet administration, regional leadership, and depot teams.
