About the role

Incumbents apply in-depth knowledge in a specific area of specialization. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors and a considerable degree of judgement. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the division’s/department’s operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Works under minimum supervision, seeking approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope. Receives instruction on specific assignment objectives and possible solutions. Unusual problems are solved jointly with manager. Work is reviewed for application of sound technical judgment. May lead a work group or project team consisting of technical and support staff. Builds internal and external relationships, with emphasis on those that facilitate the achievement of job/role accountabilities, such as relationships with key suppliers, customers, and internal service.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures export shipments and documentation are in compliance with applicable customs law.
  • Acts as a liaison with customs offices.
  • Collects and analyzes logistics data for trends and potential cost savings.
  • Evaluates and selects carriers for shipment of product.
  • Analyzes freight data for internal and external charges.
  • Interfaces with customers to identify billing information.
  • Responsible for process development and reengineering related to border crossings.
  • Provides leadership, expertise, guidance, and training to the supply chain, commodity, procurement, and program management functions, ensuring that the latest practices and procedures are followed.
  • Interfaces with various levels of management to ensure processes are in place and working such that compliance with logistics processes is maintained.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of an electronics manufacturing environment, material, and processes.
  • Expert understanding and interpretation of traffic and customs rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and multiple business applications.
  • Good understanding of internal and external customer requirements.
  • Good financial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve high-complexity process/system problems using financial, analytical, and/or statistical models.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize, and problem-solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.

Qualifications

  • Three to six years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational requirements may vary by geography.

Physical Demands

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
