Logistics Coordinator

About the role

The Logistics Coordinator tracks shipping fulfillment and ensures product movement to Bass Pro Shop’s and Cabela’s Distribution Centers in an effective and cost-efficient manner. By communicating directly with vendors, carriers, and internal customers, the coordinator provides insight and resolves issues related to shipping, visibility, and costing.

The coordinator maintains data entry functions for expenses, reporting, and validation of accuracy, and supports the Transportation Management Team by completing additional tasks and processes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provides internal customers, vendors, and carriers with resolution to shipping-related issues.
• Coordinates and resolves delivery problems, authorizes shipment booking and pick-up, tracks shipments via TMS (Transportation Management System), and expedites shipments or sets up returns for refused shipments in the most cost-efficient manner.
• Utilizes TMS software to ensure price accuracy for contracted freight costs and to properly classify Bass Pro Shops products.
• Collects carrier data for scorecarding and service level reporting.
• Collects and analyzes freight cost/rate data for project-based activities to assist management in making informed decisions based on individual carrier-negotiated costs.
• Compiles data from TMS and rate charts into Excel spreadsheets for management review.
• Supports internal customers, transportation providers, and vendors with visibility and costing to facilitate transportation processes.
• Ensures a consistent flow of shipments in the most cost-efficient manner using various means of communication (telephone, email, fax, carrier site visits, and meetings).
• Assists vendors in correct routing of freight and proper procedures for filling out Bills of Lading.
• Acts as a liaison between carriers and Bass Pro Shops distribution centers and retail stores to resolve delivery or receipt issues.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a relevant area preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation administrative support.

Skills

• Knowledge of transportation and/or route planning.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to represent Bass Pro Shops to carriers.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ability to learn transportation management software.
