Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Director of Materials Management, performs clerical duties, delivery and stocking of supplies.
Principle Clinical/Technical Duties
- Complete required training for handling and transporting lab specimens or biological samples.
- Drive hospital-provided vehicles to complete scheduled and on-demand deliveries and pick-ups daily.
- Transport lab specimens between medical facilities ensuring samples are delivered safely and on time.
- Safely handle, pack, and store lab specimens and other sensitive items, using insulated containers and temperature-controlled protocols.
- Log and maintain proper documentation and delivery records to track chain-of-custody.
- Run all daily errands such as local order pickup and USPS drop off.
- Process outgoing mail, shipments and returns via USPS, UPS, and FedEx.
- Pick up furniture, computers and obsolete equipment for resale or disposal.
Inventory
- Conducts inventory management, warehousing and transportation activities in order to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs.
- Support a variety of logistical functions, including coordinating with purchasing, to ensure items are ordered and proper stock levels are maintained, shipping, receiving and dispatching.
- Perform and manage cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations.
- Rotate and organize stock and storage areas keeping shelves, storage bins and supplies clean and free of damage.
Shipping and Receiving
- Provides clerical support for inbound and outbound logistical operations.
- Efficiently and accurately receive purchase orders, check for damages, compare purchase orders with invoices and/or packaging lists and label products as needed.
- Pull and fill picklists for department orders and stockroom supplies.
- Process and log picklist transactions through Meditech ensuring data accuracy.
Customer Service/Teamwork
- Aid Distribution Technicians with stock replenishments and deliveries as needed.
- Answer telephone calls with professionalism.
- Record adequate information given over telephone and quickly pass information to proper staff member.
- Assist other team members as needed.
Other Duties
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than high school education or equivalent as recognized by an approved government accreditation association.
- Upon being hired, must complete training on the handling of bloodborne pathogens and biological samples in compliance with federal and state hazardous material transportation regulations.
- Current driver license with clean driving record.
- Ability to operate computer and other office equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of MGRMC staff and support personnel.
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
- An understanding of computer systems, process design and data management.
- Must have a well-groomed, professional appearance.
- Must have the mental and physical ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, & push 50 pounds.
- Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency.
- Preferred qualifications: Experience as a delivery driver or courier, Previous experience within a medical or logistics environment, Two years clerical experience, Previous Meditech experience or other related electronic records systems.
