Logistics Business Development Manager
About the Role
The Logistics Business Development Manager will lead capture and opportunity pipeline development activities for the company, providing full life-cycle management and support of the proposal response in close collaboration with moving, relocation, and logistics business unit leaders and their teams. This position drives growth across multiple lines of business by identifying and qualifying new opportunities from electronic RFP/bid/procurement sources, participating in needs assessments, and leading the creation of solution recommendations and proposal responses. The role involves team-selling presentations and playing a key role in achieving a common understanding of solutions among executive and senior-level decision-makers. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, intellectually curious, and thrives in a collaborative, high-pressure environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full life cycle of the proposal response process, from RFP identification to final submission.
- Research and monitor industry publications, electronic RFP/bid/procurement sources, and attend industry events to identify new business opportunities.
- Form and manage proposal response teams, assigning tasks, setting deadlines, and providing coaching as needed.
- Review cross-functional team members' work for accuracy, relevancy, and completeness.
- Assist in identifying and recruiting service providers and contractors for successful bid submissions.
- Lead or participate in team-selling presentations to external clients.
- Register new business opportunities in the company’s CRM database and monitor wins, losses, and no-decisions.
- Produce and present client management reports with interpretations and recommendations.
- Create, manage, and maintain a companywide proposal library, including previous RFPs and submissions.
- Collaborate on business development content, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
- Perform market and competitive analyses to identify new opportunities using statistical and visual modeling methods.
- Assess unusual situations and develop action plans for addressing opportunities.
- Support management initiatives and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; preferred fields include marketing, business administration, communications, or a technical discipline.
- Minimum 4-6 years of marketing, business/capture development, or account management experience in B2B, B2G, and/or B2C environments (preference for transportation, relocation, logistics, real estate, or related industries).
- Subject-matter expertise in selling into technology/data centers, arts/museums, healthcare, aerospace/defense, or government/public sector.
- Experience in proposal or grant writing and advanced knowledge of opportunity qualification, contract negotiations, and procurement procedures.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, and sales force automation (MS CRM preferred).
- Ability to travel as required.
