Lodging Management Specialist (Evaluation/Training).

About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to analyze and evaluate trends in procedures, service, training, and related areas, providing recommended policy changes to achieve the objectives of the Air Force (AF) Lodging Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing criteria to evaluate AF Inns and ensure compliance with established standards.
• Identify and recommend process or policy changes based on program evaluations.
• Perform field visits to assess base-level lodging operations, customer service, and performance; provide staff assistance to improve local operations.
• Conduct evaluations using the AF Lodging Standards Checklist and provide feedback to maximize customer service and operational efficiency.
• Deliver training (classroom and on-the-job) for lodging personnel to meet current standards, including customer service and efficiency.
• Follow up with substandard performers to establish improvement plans and work with bases until performance meets standards.
• Train new lodging managers to develop strategic plans for successful property management.
• Incorporate total property assessments into base visits or virtual reviews and provide feedback to resource management, construction, technology, and operations branches.
• Provide briefings to Air Staff, other Department of Defense (DoD) activities, and base-level personnel.
• Assist in managing the annual Air Force Innkeeper Awards program and Lodging Managers Conference.
• Manage the Air Force Inn Training program, including on-site, off-site, and web-based courses.
• Develop lodging course curriculum, facilitate class management, and instruct classes.
• Monitor base usage of web-based training and develop the training budget.
• Manage and troubleshoot the Educational Institute Courseline and WebFire training systems.
• Review and provide functional inputs to the Career Field Education and Training Plan (CFETP), Standard Training Aides (STAs), Home Station Training, and Force Support Combat training.
• Travel may be required, sometimes on short notice, via military or commercial aircraft or other designated means.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen and willing to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
• Knowledge of Air Force Lodging experience (e.g., Lodging Manager, Assistant Lodging Manager, or Lodging Training Manager).
• Experience with hotel property management systems.
• Solid understanding of AF Lodging Fund authorizations, capital requirements, facility, technology, standards, and training requirements; ability to teach base-level managers in a coaching and supportive role.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate trends in procedures, service, training, and provide recommended policy changes to achieve AF Lodging Program objectives.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience using personal computers and lodging automated systems.
• Certification by the Educational Institute, American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) as a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA), Certified Rooms Division Executive (CRDE), or Certified Hospitality Trainer (CHT).
• MAJCOM/FOA/HAF experience is highly desirable.
