Locum | Physician Gastroenterology
About the role
A gastroenterologist is needed to provide 24-hour call coverage from 7am to 7pm, perform 1-2 scopes daily, manage up to 5-6 patient rounds, conduct colonoscopies, biopsies, polypectomies, and upper GI endoscopies, and perform ERCP procedures 1-2 times per week. The position requires management of acute GI bleeds and hospitalized patients, as well as PEG placement and esophageal variceal banding.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour call coverage from 7am to 7pm
- Perform 1-2 scopes daily
- Manage up to 5-6 patient rounds
- Conduct colonoscopies, biopsies, polypectomies, and upper GI endoscopies
- Perform ERCP procedures 1-2 times per week
- Manage acute GI bleeds and hospitalized patients
- PEG placement and esophageal variceal banding
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have board certification in gastroenterology and possess strong clinical skills, including the ability to manage acute GI bleeds and hospitalized patients, perform PEG placement, and conduct esophageal variceal banding.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a medical degree and be licensed to practice medicine in the state where the practice is located. Additional requirements may include DEA registration and malpractice insurance.
Skills
Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in managing complex cases are essential.
