Locum | Physician Gastroenterology

About the role

In an inpatient hospital setting, this position involves 8 am – 5 pm rounding shifts with 7-day on-call stretches. Rounding involves seeing 15 patients per shift and managing up to 15+ patients per call period. The role includes handling 5 – 10 admissions per call, primarily involving higher acuity GI cases. ERCP (both diagnostic and therapeutic) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures are required.

Responsibilities

• 8 am – 5 pm rounding shifts with 7-day on-call stretches
• Schedule of 15 patients per rounding shift and 15+ patients per call period
• Manage up to 5 – 10 admissions per call, focusing on higher acuity GI cases
• Conduct ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures
• Provide inpatient hospital coverage including rounding and on-call duties
• Handle leave coverage responsibilities

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have:

• At least 15 years of experience in gastroenterology
• Experience with ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Strong clinical skills and a track record of successful patient management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively

Qualifications

The following qualifications are essential:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Board certification in gastroenterology
• Current medical license in good standing
