About the role
This is a locum tenens Hematology/Oncology physician position at an outpatient clinic. Specific duties may vary based on the facility, patient population, and treatment protocols.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with blood disorders and various cancers, including administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and other treatment modalities.
- Provide comprehensive care, including developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, managing side effects, and coordinating care with other specialists.
- Consult with other physicians and healthcare team members on complex hematological and oncological cases.
- Educate patients about diagnoses, treatment options, and disease management to support informed decision-making.
- Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed, and provide ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology.
- Board certification in hematology and/or oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
- Active and unrestricted medical license in Indiana.
- At least one year of clinical experience preferred.

- Strong understanding of Hematology/Oncology principles, treatments, and procedures.
- Excellent clinical judgment and ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Effective communication of complex information to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Expertise in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and medical teams.
Schedule
- 13-week assignment with scheduled shifts plus on-call requirements.
- Standard 7, 8-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00 (flexible).
Pay
$450/hour - $500/hour.
