A temporary locum tenens assignment lasting 26 weeks at an acute-care hospital in Columbia, MO.
About the role
Provide locum tenens hematology/oncology coverage with no call requirement. The facility is an acute-care hospital.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with blood disorders and various cancers, including administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and other treatment modalities.
- Provide comprehensive care to patients, including developing and implementing individualized treatment plans, managing side effects, and coordinating care with other specialists.
- Consult with other physicians and members of the healthcare team on complex hematological and oncological cases.
- Provide patient education about diagnoses, treatment options and disease management to support informed decision-making.
- Conduct regular follow-up visits to monitor patient progress, adjust treatments as needed and provide ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Schedule
- Shift coverage: Scheduled + no call
- Shift schedule: Standard 3 × 8-hour shifts (08:00 – 17:00)
- Start date: September 21, 2026
- Length: 26 weeks
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Residency training in internal medicine accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
- Fellowship training in hematology/oncology.
- Board certification in hematology and/or oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM).
- Active and unrestricted Missouri medical license.
- At least one year of clinical experience in hematology/oncology (preferred).
Skills
- Strong understanding of hematology/oncology principles, treatments and procedures.
- Excellent clinical judgment and ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
- Effective communication of complex information to patients, families and healthcare teams.
- Expertise in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.
Pay
$450 – $500 per hour.
