Locum General Surgeon
About the role
This position is for a Medical Doctor (MD) providing inpatient and surgical care in a 263-bed acute care hospital. The clinician will offer 24-hour call coverage, perform general surgery procedures, manage emergency consultations, and support both scheduled and emergent cases.
Responsibilities include overseeing patient care for all ages, with a caseload of 8-20 patients per shift, supported by one advanced practice provider. Prescriptive authority is required. The role demands flexibility to handle a broad range of surgical and emergency needs within the hospital setting and is suitable for clinicians with or without board certification in general surgery, depending on negotiation.
