About the role

The Locksmith Technician is an integral part of FlyLock and key to the company’s growth. The position is hands-on and technical, suited for individuals with a technical mindset and locksmithing knowledge. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to learn new methods and work well both independently and as part of a team in a high-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform emergency work orders for commercial clients only.
• Install, repair, and maintain commercial and residential hardware.
• Experience with safes and card access is a plus.
• Install, repair, and maintain access control hardware.
• Modify hardware for locks.
• Create and maintain master key systems.
• Re-key residential and commercial locks; perform pinning of locks.
• Interpret instructions in written, diagram, or schedule form.
• Troubleshoot variables in various situations.
• Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate, and service equipment.
• Read operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Write simple correspondence.
• Effectively present information to customers and commercial clients.
• Perform basic arithmetic operations in all units of measure.
• Cut keys by code.
• Receive verbal instructions from management or clients/customers.
• Complete small projects as directed by management.
• Complete and submit paperwork accurately and on time.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of technical, hands-on field experience in locksmithing, access control, door hardware, or other skilled trades.
• Good verbal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Capable of working effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to drive in compliance with company vehicle policy.
• Provide timely and accurate customer service.
• Communicate effectively with clients to determine service needs.

Physical Requirements

• Must be fluent in understanding, speaking, and writing English.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Ability to kneel, crouch, stoop, and reach above and below the shoulders.
• Ability to climb a ladder and work above ground.
• Ability to withstand external weather conditions year-round.
