About the position
Works as a shift head lock and dam operator at a Corps of Engineers navigation facility within the Inland Marine Transportation System (IMTS).
Responsibilities
- Operates lock and dam machinery to control water levels and manage navigation.
- Maintains equipment and ensures safety protocols are followed.
- Communicates with other facility staff and external parties regarding operations and maintenance.
- Performs routine inspections and repairs to ensure proper functioning of lock and dam systems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment.
- Knowledge of lock and dam operation and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Qualifications
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

- Strong mechanical aptitude.
