This position is based in Kotzebue, AK supporting the Maniilaq Health Center and is open to NANA shareholders living in Kotzebue, AK. This is a non-rotational role.
Responsibilities
- Makes change or cashes checks.
- Operates cash register to record price, compile printed list, and display costs.
- Checks cafeteria area periodically to ensure all items are stocked and equipment is functioning.
- Cleans and wipes dining room and associated areas continuously.
- Prepares special lists and their prices.
- Observes and reports any issues with food quality or quantity.
- Assists customers with general information and inquiries.
- Places cash drawers from the safe into registers.
- Brews a variety of specialty coffees, teas, and chocolates using coffee urns, makers, teapots, or drink mixers.
- May assist other food service employees as needed.
Head/Lead Cashier Additional Responsibilities
- Supervises cashiers and may direct other assigned personnel.
- Oversees all phases of cashier transactions, operations, and front-end activities.
- Monitors meal tickets, time sheets, invoices, and other materials to ensure compliance with business practices.
- Records cash received and prepares transaction reports, including bank deposits.
- Reads and records totals from cash register tapes and verifies against cash on hand.
- Delegates cleaning projects as appropriate.
- Periodically checks mail and suggestion box.
- Assists manager with special projects and other duties pertinent to the department’s success.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least three (3) months of experience with cash handling, cleaning processes, and procedures.
- Alaska Food Workers Card or ServSafe Certification (contingent upon 90 days of hire).
- Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation compliant with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

- Barista experience.
