Local Delivery Driver, CDL A Hiring Event 09-02-26

National Hiring Event – September 2, 2026, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at 4100 44th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, IA 52404. $4,000 sign-on bonus (excludes anyone employed by a Performance Food Group company in the last 6 months).

About the role

Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our CDL-A Drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes—local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop—to deliver and unload food and food-related products to customers safely, on time, and in compliance with DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to answer questions accurately and promptly.
• Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections of tractor, trailer, and freight according to DOT regulations and company standards; report any safety issues or needed repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company safe-driving policies, and immediately report hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; verify counts against customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork legibly and accurately.
• Deliver customer orders on schedule; unload products into designated storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks, scan items, and follow company policy for removing damaged orders.
• Obtain customer signatures and collect payments (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns, secure trailer doors, and ensure all equipment is locked and secured.
• Unload damaged goods and returns at driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
• Remove trash and equipment from trailers; maintain cleanliness of tractor, trailer, and loading dock.
• Record hours of service and maintain logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• 12+ months of commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL-A license.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
• Valid/current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.
• Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move and stack product cases/freight weighing 10–90 pounds throughout the shift.

Pay

$30.00 per hour base pay.

Schedule

Early morning start, Monday through Friday. Home every night.
