About the role

Airgas is hiring a Local Delivery Driver in Grandville, MI. As an Ambassador for Airgas, the Service & Delivery Professional takes pride in the safe and reliable delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business partners. Operating from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company-provided straight or box truck, you will manage the flow of cylinders while building lasting relationships with the customers you visit. You will be part of a supportive professional team that encourages personal growth and internal mobility, while ensuring work/life balance.

Schedule & incentives

  • Monday – Friday, Day Shift

Responsibilities

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to external and internal customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling
  • Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations, including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed

Requirements

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Valid Medical Examiner's Card
  • Hazmat & Airbrake Certifications
  • Must have one (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years
  • In lieu of experience, may consider accepting a diploma from an accredited driving school and a minimum of one (1) year of prior driving experience within the last five (5) years
  • Must be at least 21 years or older
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 125 pounds with the aid of material handling equipment
  • Must be able to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours; frequent bending is also required
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift operator certification
