Local contract opportunity in Newport Beach, California for a Speech Language Pathologist with home health and geriatric experience.
About the role
- 12-week contract starting 09/14/2026
- 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
- 8-hour day shifts in a home-health setting
- Equipment provided—pick up from facility at 4041 MacArthur Blvd Suite 100, Newport Beach, CA 92660
- Bedside swallow evaluation and full caseload management from day one
Responsibilities
- Assess patients for speech-related therapy needs, establish treatment goals, and develop individualized Speech Pathology treatment plans
- Review medical history, apply screening tests, and determine clinical needs, impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities
- Create a plan of care in collaboration with patient and family, including expected intensity, duration, and discharge recommendations
- Provide education to patient, family, and/or caregiver on activity purpose, equipment use, home exercise, and daily activities
- Perform regular re-examinations and gather feedback from patient, family, and multidisciplinary medical team
- Manage multiple patients simultaneously while delivering timely, accurate services and documentation in accordance with professional and regulatory standards
- Participate in continuing education and integrate new knowledge into practice
- Orient new staff and serve as clinical instructor for interns
- Conduct literature reviews and staff consultations as needed
- Attend clinical education coursework meeting California Board of Physical Therapy guidelines and provide in-services to staff
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
- Minimum of eighteen (18) months of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Experience and knowledge base across a wide range of diagnoses, including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, gastroenterology, and otolaryngology
- Home health experience required
- Home bedside swallow experience required
- Geriatric experience required
